Dear Fellow FROGS,

     We hope your year is going well.  Your FROG officers are constantly looking for ways to make our organization a valuable resource for all of us.  Additionally we continue to be a support system for our Residents and Fellows.  We are happy to announce that Dr. Lauren Gay has agreed to be our Resident liaison.  She brings with her wonderful insight and ideas. 

              A number of board members took part recently in a USC Medical Student Ob-Gyn mixer sponsored by ACOG.  Its purpose was to educate 1st and 2nd year students about how diverse and special our field is.  The event was well attended and well received by the students (about 27 women and 14 men).

              We have scheduled our annual FROG reception at the ACOG Annual Clinical meeting in New Orleans.  It will be held at the Hilton Riverside on Monday May 5th in the Grand Salon #22 from 5:30-7:30pm.  Please join us for a drink and light snack  and catch up with fellow FROGS.  Your board realizes that it is hard for many of you to attend these receptions especially when the ACM is out of California.  We are therefore considering having our reception in conjunction with the Resident Paper Day in those years when the ACM is out of state.  The Resident Paper Day also occurs in May, and we will be updating you on its’ time and location as the date nears.  Let us know your thoughts. 

              As part of our effort to engage and support the residents, the FROGS bought a selection of reference textbooks for the incoming 1st year Interns this past year. The residents reported that theses texts were a great welcome into the program, and  helped start their careers as OB/GYNs on the right foot!  Further, we are considering giving a gift to the seniors as they graduate.  The chairs that many of us received are no longer being given and your board thought that a token gift to remind these new FROGs of their time at the county would be a great way to congratulate our new young colleagues.  We would be interested to hear if any of you have any gift ideas.

              We are excited to report that our residency program recently received a 3-year accreditation from the RRC (residency review committee).  This was the longest possible period of accreditation our program was eligible for, and is a testament to the hard work of Dr. Muderspach and her faculty. Congratulations!

              We look forward to seeing you at the ACM or resident research day.  Please let us know your ideas on what we can do to make our organization more useful.
